Brutally Honest

Why am I so brutally honest in my blogs?

I try to write using my experiencing in life.  With that in mind, I find it very hard to hold back the deep truth; details and experiences.  Writing the details allows me to express my inner feelings, thoughts and act as my therapy.  It’s freeing in many ways.  Releasing bad memories, is healthy and if can help another, that’s great.

According to Mission. Com, Honesty is not just about telling the truth. It’s about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want and what you need to live your most authentic life. Honesty promotes openness, empowers us and enables us to develop consistency in how we present the facts. Honesty sharpens our perception and allows us to observe everything around us with clarity.

I’m not ashamed of my past.  Every chapter in my life has been put in front of me for a reason.  I believe in God’s Will.  I have learned so much about strength, faith and perseverance from each situation.  I’ve made mistakes in life; however, I’ve made many good decisions too.  It’s funny that I don’t usually write about my good decisions; maybe because they weren’t as dramatic.  I’m a very grateful and happy person today.

I have a very strong faith in God!  A relationship with my higher power.   I feel God has walked me through many tragic situations.  People may argue, were the bad paths created by God?  I don’t necessarily think so.  When others act violently or malice against another, it’s their sin; not God’s will.  God gave me the strength I needed to keep going.  He showed me how to cope with the unthinkable storms in my life.

My Husband is a very private person, he wouldn’t think of writing about his dirty laundry.  I respect this.

I enjoy reading and relating to others.  Learning how they dealt with issues.  It’s what makes the world go round.  We are only human.  Everyone has their own stories.

For a long, long time, I kept my story quiet until I joined AA in 1983.  It even took me a while to open up in that group setting.  After hearing so many speak of their trials and tribulations, watching the relief on their faces, I decided it was time for me to do the same.  I now have 38 years of sobriety and told my life story to strangers thousands of times.  It helps me to know I’m not alone and helps others,

Set yourself free.
